Philippians 2:5–11 (NLT)

If we want joy, we must look to Jesus—not just as our Savior, but as an example.

Paul urged us to have the same attitude as Jesus did. Jesus was notoriously humble, obedient, and loving. He didn’t cling to status or self-righteousness—He emptied Himself for us. And because He humbled Himself, God exalted Him.

We often exhaust ourselves trying to prove, defend, or elevate ourselves. Constantly striving steals our joy. But when we adopt the mindset of Jesus, when we release our need to be impressive or accomplished, joy can begin to return.

Joy grows when we embrace the way of Jesus. May all of us strive to embody less of our selfish nature and be more filled with the Holy Spirit.
